Frequently Asked Questions

What is PID?

PID is a form of motion control that helps your robot stay straight as it drives during programming skills matches.
It also makes your turns more accurate.

This only works in programming skills, and only works if you have a gyro installed (or are using a properly mounted Gen 2 brain)

Do I need to know text coding to do this?

NO - this lesson is taught using standard VEX block code (not text code)

Why is this considered "Advanced"?

The math involved in a PID loop is rather advanced. This is taught from a non-calculus, non-algebra approach, however students will need a very good understanding of arithmetic, negative numbers, decimals, and absolute value.

Should I buy this and learn PID?

Maybe not... ?

This is not easy code, and is only meant for more advanced students. It will take several hours to write, troubleshoot, and tune.

If this is your first year in VEX, this is not the course to take. If you have been doing VEX for a while though and are ready for a challenge, welcome!
